Walter Parks & The Unlawful Assembly

Hailing from Jacksonville, Florida Guitarist, and lead singer Walter Parks, longtime sideman to Richie Havens, along with The Unlawful Assembly featuring collaborator drummer/producer Steve Williams,(Digable Planets, Sade) Ada Dyer vocals (Sting, Black Crows), Paul Frazier (David Byrne, St.Vincent), Michael Bellar (Amos Lee, Oliver Wood) and Andrae Murchison Trombone (The Skatalites, Monty Alexander) reimagines, and tributes the historic music of Appalachian, gospel, and blues from old-school spirituals and prison work chants to traditional swamp hollers, all presented with Parks native Northeast Florida feel and interspersed with southern rock, jazz, and early 70's soul. Parks also known for his haunting Georgia Hollers was featured by the Library of Congress American Folklife Center in 2020. The single "Shoulder It" was co-written with Stan Lynch original drummer from that other Northeast Florida native and legend Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers.
