Exuberance, edge and bucket loads of passion are a few ways to describe Waja, Auckland’s bass loving Producer/DJ. Widely known for her stage presence and energy while performing the Waja brand has gone from strength to strength, she has spent the last three years evolving her taste and style to a niche amongst a scene that favouritises everything but. Rising in a heavily saturated Drum & Bass era as a Bass artist has proved difficult but not so much for Waja. Over the last year she has found herself representing her music on stages at some of New Zealand’s largest festivals Rhythm & Vines and Mardi Gras. Alongside other festivals such as Deep Hard n Funky, Bush Doof vol.10 and Spring Break Vanuatu 2019, she also has an impressive track record in supporting many International artists. Holy Goof, Dirty Phonics, Infect, Virus Syndicate, Midnight Tyrannosaurus, Monxx, Enschway, Twerl, Barely Alive, Bandelz & Dodge & Fuski are her biggest feats, helping pave the way for her creative outlet. Alongside her comfortable position on stage, Waja has over the last two years found herself delvaging in electronic music production. After her release of one EP, two remixes and two original singles, it is obvious her personal sound has emerged from a very early stage paving the way for many more immersive projects to come.
