The Gilberts
Country / Americana/Alt Country
The Gilberts are a multi-award winning sibling contemporary folk trio bringing vibrant three-part harmonies, soulful lyricism and melodious alchemy to their original songs with diverse influences including folk music from the 60s to the current scene, as well as Americana, Celtic, choral and country.
Frieden, Reuben and Maisie Gilbert emigrated to Canada from the UK as young children in 2003 growing up on folk festival fields around Nova Scotia where open mics quickly led to invites to join the line-ups for main stage performances at major festivals including Deep Roots, Lunenburg Folk Harbour, Full Circle, Celtic Colours, Goderich Celtic Roots, and Halifax Urban Folk Festival. Their music has also been featured at the 2021 virtual Philadelphia Folk Festival.
Their debut album 'The Gilberts: One' picked up a 2021 Canadian Folk Music Award, and the follow-up 'Tell Me' won a 2021 Music Nova Scotia Award and a 2022 East Coast Music Award, and was nominated for a 2022 Canadian Folk Music Award. Songs from both albums have been played on CBC and other radio across North America.
