Tea Eater
Punk / Punk Rock
No one’s more fun in the post (or present) apocalypse than Tea Eater. Fronted by Tarra Thiessen of Gustaf and Sharkmuffin, the New York City-based art punk band’s made significant waves with their debut LP Obsession, released in October 2023, produced and mixed by Drew Vandenberg (Bambara/Faye Webster/Of Montreal).
Tea Eater has been local support for Thee Oh Sees, Sloppy Jane, & Death Valley Girls. They have completed East Coast and Midwest headline tours, a month-long residency in LA, a set at Distorsion Psych Fest in Montreal, and two UK/EU headline tours in 2023 and 2024.
In 2024, they released the singles “Technicolor Rash” and “NY Myth” on a 7-inch vinyl through Greenway Records, along with a remix of “Cosmic Coconut” by David Sound Wizard on a limited-edition star-shaped vinyl.
Tea Eater’s latest LP, I Don’t Believe in Bad Luck, is the story of a hotline psychic who’s sick of everyone—including herself. In this sophomore release, the Brooklyn-based DIY band expands their obsessions to include waffles, bugs, and butter. Through tracks like "People Pleaser" and "You Again," I Don’t Believe in Bad Luck explores what it means to be the villain in someone else’s story—whether by accident or design.
With fuzzy hooks and a sense of humor, Tea Eater recontextualizes messy experiences, showing how even the most chaotic holes we fall into can lead to the best possible outcomes.
