Steve Knightley is a renowned English singer-songwriter and founding member of the acclaimed folk band Show of Hands. With over three decades in the folk/acoustic music scene, Knightley’s work is deeply rooted in the traditions of the West Country, where he lives. Known for blending historical narratives with social commentary, his songs like Country Life and Arrogance, Ignorance, and Greed have won critical acclaim, including multiple BBC Folk Awards. Knightley has performed over 4,000 gigs, including six at the Royal Albert Hall, and launched the "Grow Your Own Gig" initiative, empowering communities to host concerts. Beyond music, he served as artistic director for the Shrouds of the Somme installation and was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Music from Plymouth University. In 2024, Knightley embarks on his first solo tour since the retirement of Show of Hands, debuting new material from his album The Winter Yards alongside his iconic compositions.
