Sodl

Sodl was born in Salzkammergut and currently based in Vienna, Austria. Since she was able to sit independently on a piano stool, she has been writing music. Between blaring electric guitar and russian button accordion, Sodl creates a tension of anger and warmth, seasoned with a touch of Fiona Apple, Mitski and Alice Phoebe Lou. In 2020 she was discovered by radio station FM4 and has been twirling from stage to stage ever since - including the Vienna Popfest, Waves Festival, Acoustic Lakeside and Gmundner Festwochen. With “Sheepman”, Sodl has created a self-produced debut album that not only allows for contrasts, but celebrates them. A tightrope walk between fairytale escapism and direct confrontation. Amidst mystical beings, devotion and female lust, the 21-year-old tells of structural oppression, of the struggle for space and visibility as a woman.
