SIT

Sit is a Los Angeles based ambient composer focused on environmental music. Following the Japanese school of Kankyo Ongaku, Sit focuses on blending pleasing, sparse compositions with a listener’s actual physical space, to create evolving compositions that are different with every listen. The repeating melodies help guide the listener into a state of focus while the space between each melody gives the listener time to hear what's happening in the room around them. In this way, the listener and their room are creating music together. Every track also includes 8D versions (meant for headphones) that put the listener in the space Sit was in when he made the music. In describing the composition process for “Conversations with My Room EP” Sit remarks: “The music feels like loops, but I actually played everything manually. The album was created with one synthesizer, a sampler, and a tape machine. It was nice to force myself to learn one simple thing well instead of adding too many layers. I hope this music can draw attention to the joys of mundanity and the walls we live within. I hope it makes you feel well.”
