Shrouds, a modern Deathrock throwback band, lives in shadows of the infamous southern California dark alternative scene. Once an unknown entity amongst the dark-music crowd, they have come to be the go-to local support act for legacy artists in the goth and deathrock scene. Members Grimm Beat (Belltower Bats, ex. Only Theatre of Pain, Vision of the Void), Ludwig Wilde (Belltower Bats, Warsaw Pact), and Ana Thema (Warsaw Pact, ex Shadow Image) bring an energetic, percussive dread back into a genre that had become nearly indistinguishable from other guitar-based alternative music recognizable only by aesthetics. With over a decade of musicianship behind each member, Shrouds stands out as a band with an unrelenting vision for the future of the genre with utmost respect for the qualities that shaped the Deathrock sound in the past. Whether headlining a night, or supporting genre-founding artists ( such as 13th Chime, Screaming Dead, Gitane Demone, Lucas Lanthier, and Eva-O ) the trio casts a brooding shadow onto the stage with an energy and sincerity that will pull you along with them into a swirling, monotone simulacra of an era passed.
