Rosie Frater-Taylor
Jazz / Smooth Jazz
One of the most electrifying forces in contemporary British jazz, Rosie Frater-Taylor is a virtuoso guitarist, vocalist and songwriter of remarkable depth. Seamlessly blending jazz, rock, alt-pop, neo-soul, and folk, she crafts a distinctive sound inspired by icons like Joni Mitchell, Pat Metheny, and Steely Dan, alongside modern influences such as John Mayer and Madison Cunningham. Her latest album, Featherweight - Deluxe Edition (2024), has earned critical acclaim from Jazz FM, BBC Radio, MOJO, and Guitar World. Jimmy Page praised her extraordinary "connection with the guitar" after her performance at the Gibson Garage launch, while she’s been featured on Quincy Jones' Qwest TV and Spotify’s 'Best of Jazz UK 2024' playlist.
A dynamic live performer, Rosie captured her band’s energy in Featherweight after an ambitious 60-date UK/EU tour in 2022. The album reflects her emotional depth and musical sophistication, weaving nostalgic soundscapes with her signature guitar work, vocal prowess, and poignant songwriting. Her online covers, including Stevie Nicks' “Dreams” (2M streams) and Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill,” have attracted a devoted following.
Starting with drum lessons at eight and songwriting by ten, she was performing original music on London’s live circuit by fourteen. While completing her Royal Academy of Music degree, she released her acclaimed sophomore album, Bloom (2021), earning 3M streams and a Gilles Peterson Worldwide Awards nomination.
