Ravggon

Ravggon is a band playing rock music in Northern Sámi with roots in Vuohčču and Oulu. Ravggon has previously released one album and toured around Sápmi and Finland as well as abroad. In 2015, Ravggon participated in the Sámi Grand Prix singing competition on the Norwegian side of Sápmi in Guovdageaidnu and reached third place with the song Máska. Ravggon has released a new album together with producer Guhtur Niillas Rita Duomis in 2024. The music has changed from the previous more acoustic folk-pop to a rougher, heavier and even progressive direction. The compositions have been inspired by hazy memories, strivings and the fear of what happens to nature and us when nothing is enough. The name of the new album is Gapmu, which translates to instinct or hunch. The vinyl edition has been made of it, which can be purchased via the band's website www.ravggon.com. The wonderful pictures on the album covers deepen the narrative and are the work of Lada Suomenrinne. The vinyl comes with Northern Sámi lyrics, English translations and an extra track.
