Award-winning ‘My Chérie’ is known for her mesmerising stage presence, ethereal vocals and songwriting that tackle raw and emotive topics, largely focussing on her distinctive journey contending with cultural pressures, spirituality and her queer identity. Even with darker themes, her songs exude hopefulness and promise, striking a delicate balance between exploring the pain of personal growth, heartbreak and faith; evoking deep and relatable emotions while leaving listeners feeling empowered. Having spent her childhood in South Africa, the impact and inspiration of her homeland and native Afrikaans is woven throughout her music, forming the basis of her transforming live shows. The heart of her performances is to create a unique experience for audiences and create honest and authentic connections. The singer-songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist first established her shows as a solo live looping artist in Adelaide (Kaurna Land) Australia and has grown to incorporate a full 6-piece band, creating a unique sonic mixture of Alternative and Indie Pop, RNB and Indie Rock. She takes inspiration from artists like Tash Sultana, Florence and The Machine, Billie Eilish, Kate Bush, FKA Twigs and Aurora. After two successful single releases in 2024, both receiving national radio play and coverage and an award-winning music video that aired on Australian TV program RAGE, My Chérie is gearing up for a new sound, look and season with her full band and upcoming releases.
