Murderbait

MURDERBAIT is a Portland band whose sound is something of a melting pot of post-punk, psychedelic, 70's kraut-rock, and dark space rock, with influences from a wide variety of eras and genres. The music is reminiscent of various forerunners like David Bowie, Nick Cave, Leonard Cohen, Tangerine Dream, and Spacemen 3 with no attempt at emulating any one in particular. The music and lyrics unabashedly reveal themes related to the hardships of the human condition, such as dogmatic oppression, trauma, chronic depression, etc., with an allegorical, yet very personal/first-hand point of view. At the same time there is a strong resolve and a sliver of hope to conquer these elements by fighting and facing personal demons, through psychedelic art and music, and exploring other benefits of temporarily dissolving all sense of ego, to the eventual acceptance of it all as beautiful, in and of itself. All of this is captured in their dynamic and sometimes bombastic wall of sound, whether in the studio or as part of their unforgettable live performances.
