MOTHER SKY

MOTHER SKY GB

Rock / Folk Rock
Mother Sky are a collective of musicians heralding from South Wales, Manchester and London. The band assembled remotely during the pandemic in 2021 to record a collection of obscure folk covers. They have since reunited as friends foremost and creative collaborators to write and record original music. Folk Radio UK described Mother Sky as 'like someone rolled The Velvet Underground, Kate Bush and the Dirty Three into one. Gritty and transcendent, it’s totally mesmerising".
Individually, the collective have contributed to live scores, compositions and recordings by some of the music industry’s finest - Jon Hopkins, Philip Selway, Emilíana Torrini, to name a few. Bass player Jon Thorne is a founder member of the folk group Yorkston/Thorne/Khan; drummer Luke Flowers (a long standing member of the prolific jazz ensemble The Cinematic Orchestra) contributes magic to recordings and live shows.
Mother Sky have self-released three singles, all critically acclaimed, receiving plays on BBC Radio 2 (Mark Radcliffe), BBC 6 Music (Cerys Matthews) and BBC Radio Wales (Huw Stephens and Adam Walton). Their third single, released in March, features the powerful singer/songwriter and frontwoman of The Duke Spirit, Liela Moss . An EP is scheduled for late spring 2023.
Mother Sky deliver an enigmatic, powerful and immersive live performance, and are in the process of writing their debut album.
