MEG CURL
Country / Americana/Alt Country
Meg Curl started her music journey at the age of ten in when she became a Cathedral Chorister at Wells Cathedral in 2017. She had intensive classical and choral vocal training. When she turned twelve she began posting videos of her singing and playing piano covers to YouTube. She began writing songs to piano but due to her choral background didn't pursue songwriting until lockdown began in 2020. During the start of lockdown she taught herself guitar with the help of YouTube. With excess time, Meg began exploring songwriting more seriously, releasing her first song 'Distanced' on Youtube in April 2020 in the form of a self made music video. In the summer of 2020, Meg started self-producing her songs on GarageBand. By October 2020, Meg released her first album 'Orbit' to streaming platforms, despite never performing her songs live. Once lockdown rules had been relaxed, Meg began performing live in Somerset through busking and open mics.
In 2021, Meg released a single and two EP's which had been self produced. 'Little Lights' was released in February and 'All The Colours' was released in April. In 2022, at the age of fifteen, Meg released her third and most recent EP 'bedroom acoustics'.
With hopes to have a career in music and songwriting, Meg often performs at different events around Somerset and has been interviewed by BBC Somerset, Glastonbury FM and KTCRfm.
