Mark Chadwick

Mark Chadwick

Rock / Folk Rock
As part of the Levellers, Mark Chadwick has co-written twenty hit singles and ten Top 40 albums (including the number one, Zeitgeist). Born in Munster, Germany; son of a bandsman in the army, Mark grew up alongside Graham Coxon of Blur as their fathers had the same job. Eventually settling in Brighton, England, he met the other band members that went on to form Levellers, earning several gold and platinum albums en route. Chadwick’s solo material is more autobiographical than his Levellers work and has seen him collaborating with a wide range of diverse musicians. “The first album (All The Pieces) was a joy to record, looking at life, dissecting it”. Sean Lakeman produced the album as well as playing on it and guests included Kathryn Roberts and Sean's brother, Seth Lakeman. When it came to the making the second (Moment), Chadwick had been to rehab, and given up drinking. “The songs were written over a two year period. I had a good long look at myself and how I fitted into the world around me”. Teaming up with Alternative pop geniuses, Tom and Alex White from The Electric Soft Parade, the album was recorded live in the Levellers Metway Studio in under a week. “I was using Van Morrison’s principle of recording. I played the song first time, the band listened, second time they joined in, third time it’s a take. That was it’. Chadwick continues to divide his time between fronting the Levellers and his solo work.
