Lambs & Wolves

Lambs & Wolves DE

Rock / Folk Rock / Indie Rock
The tradition of US-American folk is at the very heart of Lambs & Wolves' story. The band – Julian Tröndle, Louis Groß, Stefan Bercher and Jamie Craig – all met at college in Freiburg, Germany, and bonded over a mutual love of literature and poetry by postmodern authors like Denis Johnson and singing lyricists like David Berman (Silver Jews) and Adrianne Lenker (Big Thief). However, novels and headphones would soon be swapped for piano and guitars as Lambs & Wolves began writing warm, melancholy songs that have made them probably the least 'German-sounding' folk band today. The album debut "Not A Party At All" (2021) was featured by the Bandcamp editorial team with the words: "Charming German indie pop with the keen melodic sensibilities and melancholic undercurrent of some of the style's best practitioners." The bands latest album "The Devil in the Orchard" was released in March 2023, which was subsequently presented on a tour of Germany, France and Switzerland. The album is in many ways a tribute to the late musician and lyricist David Berman (SILVER JEWS, PURPLE MOUNTAINS). Peter Disch (BZ) compared the sound to that of WILL OLDHAM and BILL CALLAHAN, while the British music blog At The Barrier titled it: "a lovely album, packed with engaging tunes and fine musicianship, delivered in a way that oozes intimacy and vulnerability."
