Damsel Elysium

damsel Elysium is the solo project of UK based multidisciplinary artist and composer Djenaba Davis-Eyo. An alchemist of body, space, object, nature and the metaphysical, damsel is a holistic world builder of light and sound. Working almost entirely with improvisation and somatic techniques, Their main purpose is to draw attention to minute details and alternative realities. Their first record released on AD 93 and their multi-medium approach explores site-specific performance, inspired by contemporary and fluxus movement, which have appeared in Tate Modern’s Turbine Hall, Southbank centre, V&A museum and Fondation Beyeler but their heart and most dynamic performances take place in buildings with history, sacredness and non-performance purpose spaces. Performance becomes ritual and the stage an altar. They have collaborated across music, fashion, design, film scoring and art spaces such as creating a collection of glass instruments for IITTALA, collaborating with FKA twigs and working with brands such as Gucci and Simone Rocha.
