Conjunto Media Luna

Conjunto Media Luna was born in the midst of the 2020 lockdown as a project of experimentation by musician and producer Iván Medellín, whose main inspirations were the accordion music of the Montes de María region in Colombia and the new cumbia aesthetics in the context of cities in Latin America and the world such as Bogotá, Monterrey, Buenos Aires, San Jose California, among others. These aesthetics have not only been sonic but have also involved image and photography of the band. The musical foundation of Conjunto Media Luna is the traditional accordion, vallenato or alegre drum, guacharaca, and bass format, but their timbre explorations have led them to incorporate synthesizers, samplers, and drum machines into their sound.
