Camille Trail
Country / Contemporary Country
Fresh from an official showcase at Ireland’s ‘Your Roots Are Showing’ conference Camille Trail is carving a path as one of Australia’s most respected up and coming indie-folk artists. Her recent Garrett Kato produced offerings ‘Gotta Get To Know You’ and ‘twenties’ have achieved impressive streaming numbers and led to invitations to open for Ash Grunwald and Boy & Bear. Camille grew up on a cattle ranch two hours west of Rockhampton. Immersed in music from a young age, she moved to Brisbane to attend JMC Music Academy where she wrote the songs that appeared on her Shane Nicholson produced debut album ‘River of Sins’ - a sultry melting pot of country, folk, blues and gospel - released in 2021 to high critical praise. Andrew McMillen wrote in The Australian that "River of Sins announces the 22-year-old Central Queensland singer-songwriter as one of the nation’s most striking new voices” and Paul Kelly’s biographer Stuart Coupe wrote - "It’s pretty obvious that the 22 year old Trail is something special – very special and of course, at the end of the day it’s all about the songs – and Trail is a perceptive wordsmith." Camille participated in Sounds Australia's Global Music Match (2022) and has showcased at Folk Alliance in Kansas City (2023) as well as Your Roots Are Showing in Ireland (2024). She has been nominated for a Queensland Music Award and a Golden Guitar Award.
