Black Velvet

Black Velvet is Israel's premier Irish/Celtic band. The band was founded by Ehud Nathan with the intention of performing Traditional Irish music as authentically as possible, while keeping up with the evolving end of the tradition. Band members' original compositions have been added to the repertoire over the years along with music from the Celtic traditions of Scotland, Brittany and Galicia, as well as other European traditions and the local Middle Eastern and Israeli music. Black Velvet enjoyed success from its very beginning, and over the years has performed at Israel's major venues. The band's debut album was released in 2000 and won both public and critical acclaim. Its second album was released in 2013 and includes a bonus CD featuring live recordings with high profile guest musicians from Ireland. The current line up of the band was founded in 2016. It is a young and energetic line up that perfectly displays the richness and complexity of Black Velvet's music and creates a unique and highly enjoyable sound. The band has released its third album in February 2020.
