Balimaya Project

Led by composer/arranger and leading UK-based Djembe player, Yahael Camara Onono, Balimaya Project intently synthesize and bridge London’s bustling jazz circuit with traditional repertoire and folklore of the Mandé peoples of West Africa, and in turn connect the music’s contemporary and ancestral forbearers. In the wake of their debut albums success, the Mandejazz juggernaut released their second album in 2023; ‘When The Dust Settles’ on July 21st. ‘This album is dedicated to the deep breath before the plunge, that moment of silence before diving into depths unknown. It is dedicated, not only to the sacrifice that bore fruit, but to the offering that was made in vain. It is an acceptance and a reckoning with pain, regret, joy and hope.
