Aluna Project two sister's born in Portugal and now based in southern France. From an early age, they were immersed in the rich Lusophone culture, yet they carry within them the spiritual and rhythmic heritage of their Angolan roots. They grew up enchanted by nature: the pine-forested trails replaced their imaginary savannas, and the cicadas’ chorus blended with memories of drums and chants recounting stories of Angola. This fusion of real and ancestral landscapes shaped a sound that floats between folk, world music, and ambient, always driven by a deeper quest for the sacred. In their compositions, Liane weaves ethereal melodies on guitar, charango and cavaquinho, while Vera Monica layers organic percussion textures, multi-tracked vocals, and short field recordings of nature (wind, running water, bird song). Their arrangements evoke both the serenity of a Mediterranean woodland and the power of an African ritual, inviting listeners on an inner journey. More than music, their project is an act of devotion: each release is dedicated to a “spiritual guide”—ancestors, natural elements, or mythic beings—that inspires them to meld Afro-American ancestry with European experiences.
