Abi Carter
Pop / Mainstream Pop
Get ready to fall in love with Abi Carter — so much of America has already. The vocalist from California’s Coachella Valley stole the hearts of viewers who tuned in for her American Idol audition, where her rendition of Billie Eilish’s “What Was I Made For?” earned her a Platinum Ticket, sending her straight to the second tier of the competition rounds on the famed program.
After being put into piano lessons, Abi’s natural ability on the instrument was so clear that her instructor was happy to continue working with her even when it became financially untenable for her family. Her skill on the piano is near virtuosic; her many awards for pieces from composers like Chopin, Beethoven, and Shostakovich are further proof of that.
Before her breakout moment on American Idol thrust her into a sudden spotlight of larger proportions than she had ever anticipated, Abi was preparing to study Psychology, but her draw to writing and performing music became impossible to ignore. While juggling school, she would play gigs in restaurants, country clubs, birthday parties, or busk on the street, and now she’s more than ready to take things to the next level.
Abi’s music is influenced by the likes of Lizzy McAlpine, Sara Bareilles, Gracie Abrams, and Taylor Swift, and while there are plenty of great singers out there, there’s a raw earnestness to Abi’s voice that sets her apart — it’s something that can only be informed by performing from the very bottom of one’s soul.
